7/1/15

I visited Niagara Falls and went on the Aero Car over the whirpool, went on the Hornblower Cruise by the Falls, and walked along the White Water Walk (Class 6 rapids). Definitely got wet on the Falls cruise! It's pretty impressive the amount of wind the Falls generate in addition to the mist. From there I drove to Lake George, NY in the Adirondacks.

I traveled around Lake George. Started with a horseback ride on a trail with a view of Lake George at Saddle Up Stables. From there I drove up Veteran's Memorial Highway to the summit of Prospect Mountain. After that, I drove and then hiked to Shelving Rock Falls. Beautiful waterfall, but there were too many people when I went, so I didn't stay long. After that, I drove to Colchester, VT to stay for the night.

I traveled around the Burlington, VT area a bit today. Visited Magic Hat Brewing Company, Fiddlehead Brewing Company, Shelburne Vineyard, and Switchback Brewing Company doing tastings at each. Also checked out Overlook Park (basically just a look-out spot) and Waterfront Park where they were setting up for July 4th festivities. From there I drove to Maine...

Slight snafu to the trip - for the hotel for tonight, I thought I had booked a non-smoking room. When I arrived to the hotel, I discovered it was a smoking room and they didn't have any non-smoking rooms available...I tried to suck it up and just deal with it, but after <5 minutes in the room I had to leave due to the beginnings of a headache and watery eyes. So I headed north to Augusta to another hotel that had a non-smoking room available and immediately took a shower upon arrival! Even that brief amount of time in that smoking room made my hair and clothes stink!
