I decided to quit my job and embark on a cross-country journey. After I'm done with the US, I may even venture out internationally. Check here for signs that I'm still alive...

Back to the Earth
"And to truly be forgiven we must all get back to living with the land in harmony"
Starting Point: Idaho Falls, ID --> Grand Teton National Park
Ending Point: Jackson, WY
Miles Traveled: 170.5
9/8/15
Took the Aerial Tram up to the top of Rendezvous Mountain, then went back in to Grand Teton National Park. Took the shuttle boat across Jenny Lake, then hiked up to Hidden Falls (~1 mile), and then hiked back to the parking lot (~2.5 mile hike). Continued on to Yellowstone National Park where I camped for the night at Grant Village. It got pretty cold overnight (down to 32'F) and I think my sleeping bag lied when it said it was rated to 25'F...

Went exploring in the park. Visited Old Faithful and happened to time my visit when another unpredictable geyser (Beehive) was going off at the same time. The rangers said the two usually only erupt together once every 2-3 months. Also visited the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone to look at the Upper and Lower Falls. Drove over 100 miles and never left the park! It got pretty cold again overnight (down to only 36'F).

This is what I was commenting on in the last post - the sign says: "DANGER Fragile Thermal Area KEEP OUT"
but yet where are people standing?

Morning Glory Pool - used to have more blue algae-like bacteria, but people have thrown trash, coins, etc in there and blocked the vent. Since the vent was blocked, the water cooled and the brown/yellow/orange algae-like bacteria has taken over. The park service removes stuff every year that people throw in there.
Crested Pool - its temperatures reach 201-202'F

**I've been using Airbnb some during this trip to find places to stay along the way. If you haven't tried it, check it out for your next trip (even internationally). Usually cheaper than a hotel...and if you have some extra space, rent it out and make some money! (https://www.airbnb.com/)**
